Neuron renews commitment to promote safer streets for all this UN Road Safety Week!

Road safety is a shared responsibility and we are incentivising all riders to refresh their knowledge on e-scooter safety

We are marking UN Road Safety Week 2023 from 15-21 May by renewing our commitment for the third year to promote “Safer Streets for All”. This year’s campaign will build on our continued efforts to highlight how riding and parking responsibly can help improve safety outcomes for different members of our communities.

During UN Road Safety Week, riders who have already redeemed free credits for completing the Parking Whiz Quiz on Neuron’s online ScootSafe Academy will be able to do so again, effectively doubling their incentives earned. We hope this serves as an important reminder for all riders to keep their city’s streets safe and tidy. Our friendly Safety Ambassadors will also be at in-person ScootSafe events to equip riders with the confidence to ride and park safely.

We’ve consulted with Blind Citizens Australia (BCA), the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB), Thomas Pocklington Trust and our national road safety partners to co-create a range of education materials. This includes light-hearted videos, albeit with serious messages, to encourage riders to be considerate of pedestrians, especially the visually impaired, those with guide dogs, wheelchair users and the elderly.

Neuron supports the 2023 UN Road Safety Week theme, #RethinkMobility, and is encouraging riders to ditch their car in order to reduce congestion and emissions across the world. We believe improving safety outcomes for our riders and all pedestrians is an important prerequisite to supporting this modal shift.

The all-new N4: Neuron unveils the most rider-centric, sustainable and toughest e-scooter yet!

The all-new N4: Neuron unveils the most rider-centric, sustainable and toughest e-scooter yet!

Designed in-house to deliver unparalleled comfort and stability, the N4 promises a smoother, faster and more predictable acceleration, and best-in-class hill climbing ability

Ergonomically designed and precisely tuned to win riders

The N4 has been precisely tuned to deliver a more linear acceleration profile which allows the e-scooter to reach its top speed faster in a smoother, more predictable manner, giving the rider added confidence. It has been engineered to deliver best-in-class hill climbing performance, dynamically delivering power exactly when it is needed.

When competitor vehicles fail, the N4 can comfortably climb a 17 degree incline carrying a rider of 90kg/198 lbs. Plus we have added an upgraded front suspension and pneumatic tyres to significantly reduce road vibration and enhance comfort and traction.

The N4 carries over well-known safety features from our N3 model including the world’s first App-controlled Helmet Lock, launched in 2020, which integrates a helmet to the e-scooter and our “talking e-scooter” voice guidance system which was introduced in 2018 to inform and educate riders.

Tougher and more durable, with dual-battery system for better unit economics

Having undergone rigorous crash and stress testing, the N4 has been designed to be extremely durable and economical to operate. The deck and frame of the N4 is made from a single die-cast piece of aluminium and is fitted with rubber bumper strips along each side to protect it from wear and tear.

We introduced the world’s first swappable batteries for rental e-scooters in 2018 and our N4 e-scooter goes one step further with a new sequential, dual-battery system which can be deployed with one or two batteries depending on the demand in the city or to manage peak periods. Having two batteries reduces charging time by around 50%, compared to using a single battery of the same combined capacity, significantly boosting operational efficiency.

Premium, white-label model offered to operators and fleet owners

We are excited to announce that we will offer a premium, white-label N4 model to operators and fleet owners. The N4 has been designed and built to meet the demands of modern cities with regulated e-scooter programmes, and for operators to win competitive city tenders. It is fully certified and compliant with major markets in Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.

In an industry first, the frame and body of the N4 is constructed using certified 80% recycled aluminium, which significantly reduces the manufacturing footprint of the vehicle.

The N4 comes with a proprietary new IoT box which is future-proofed to allow technology to be added over time. It has a range of high-tech sensors to precisely locate the e-scooter and control where it can be ridden and parked and to correct irresponsible riding in real-time. Unlike many competitor vehicles the GPS antenna is top-mounted and sky-facing, it sits within the new LED dashboard to achieve superior satellite reception.

Neuron unveils Augmented Reality Parking Assistant for enhanced parking compliance!

Powered by Google’s ARCore Visual Positioning System, the AR Parking Assistant will complement GPS to more accurately pinpoint the location of our vehicles

We are introducing our new AR Parking Assistant to help riders park responsibly while improving their end-of-trip experience. Powered by Google’s ARCore Visual Positioning System (VPS), the new feature will complement GPS to further enhance parking compliance in select cities with Neuron’s designated parking model which only allows riders to end their trips at one of many convenient parking stations located across the service area.

When AR Parking Assistant is activated, riders will be prompted to scan their surroundings using their mobile phone camera through the Neuron app. Distinguishing landmarks such as street signs or buildings, the scanned images will be compared against Google’s Street View database to determine a precise location. Once the location check has been completed, riders who are not within a parking station will be directed to one nearby before the trip can end.

The system works with Neuron’s end-of-trip photo feature which requires a rider to photograph and upload an image of their e-scooter to ensure the vehicle is parked upright and in the correct manner. Collectively, these features will more precisely control where and how Neuron’s e-scooters are  parked in the city and will increase user experience and parking compliance.

We have conducted user testing of the AR Parking Assistant in early 2023 in a number of cities worldwide. It is currently available in Perth, Busselton and select areas of Melbourne and Brisbane in Australia. The system has been well received by riders and we are seeing over 95% parking compliance in cities where the technology has been introduced.

Neuron to launch e-scooters in Perth!

Neuron has been selected to provide e-scooters in the City of Perth as part of a two-year trial.

We are delighted to have been selected to provide e-scooters in the City of Perth as part of a two-year trial. The trial will launch with 250 of our safety-first e-scooters available from Saturday March 18 with e-scooters riders able to travel across Perth CBD and surrounding suburbs including East Perth, Crawley and Northbridge.

Neuron’s selection in the city is due to a strong track record of partnering with cities, and our leadership when it comes to safety and innovation. The City of Perth will be our third launch in Western Australia after launching Perth Metro’s first e-scooter trial in the City of Stirling in February 2022, followed by Busselton in December 2022. Neuron’s e-scooters have been purpose-built to a commercial grade, specifically for renting and are fitted with cutting edge safety-features including; an app-controlled helmet lock, voice guidance, a Follow My Ride feature, an emergency button and topple detection.

Neuron’s e-scooters help reduce car use and congestion, improve air quality, as well as boost the local economy. According to our  titled Shared Rides, Shared Wealth, revealed that two thirds of Neuron e-scooter journeys result in a purchase with a local business across Australia.

Riders will be able to unlock and use the e-scooters through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in a matter of minutes. To learn how to ride safely, users can also visit our industry leading education platform ScootSafe Academy, an interactive, online riding school with city-specific training content that can help to educate riders.

We look forward to partnering with the City of Perth to deliver a safe, convenient and environmentally friendly service.

Neuron to launch e-scooters in Busselton with a range of cutting-edge safety features!

Under a 12-month trial, Busselton is set to become the second city in Western Australia to benefit from Neuron’s safety-first e-scooters.

Our distinctive orange e-scooters are coming to Busselton, as part of a 12-month trial in partnership with Busselton City Council. Set to launch on Thursday 15 December the city’s first e-scooter program will see up to 250 e-scooters gradually rolled out across the city centre and surrounding suburbs including Geographe, West Busselton, Brodwater and Abbey. The riding area will also extend along the Dunsborough Coastal Path and into Dunsborough City Centre.

We’re thrilled to be selected as the exclusive operator, after a strong track record of partnering with councils and proven leadership in the safety and innovation space. The recent announcement makes Busselton the second city in Western Australia to benefit from our industry leading e-scooters, after launching in the City of Stirling earlier this year (February 2022). Elsewhere in Australia, our e-scooter programmes are helping to reduce car use and congestion, improve air quality, as well as boost the local economy. The programme is set to create approximately 20 jobs in Busselton recruited locally, and increase economic activity with our national report, Shared Rides, Shared Wealth, finding two in three e-scooter journeys result in a purchase with a local business.

Safety remains at the heart of everything we do. Riders in Wollongong will benefit from visibly larger 12” wheels, wider footplates and an app-controlled Helmet Lock and Geofencing technology to control where e-scooters are ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel in certain areas. Other features include a topple detection, a 000 emergency button; voice guidance and a Follow My Ride feature.

Riders will be able to unlock and use the e-scooters through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.
