Neuron to launch e-scooters in Busselton with a range of cutting-edge safety features!

Under a 12-month trial, Busselton is set to become the second city in Western Australia to benefit from Neuron’s safety-first e-scooters.

Our distinctive orange e-scooters are coming to Busselton, as part of a 12-month trial in partnership with Busselton City Council. Set to launch on Thursday 15 December the city’s first e-scooter program will see up to 250 e-scooters gradually rolled out across the city centre and surrounding suburbs including Geographe, West Busselton, Brodwater and Abbey. The riding area will also extend along the Dunsborough Coastal Path and into Dunsborough City Centre.

We’re thrilled to be selected as the exclusive operator, after a strong track record of partnering with councils and proven leadership in the safety and innovation space. The recent announcement makes Busselton the second city in Western Australia to benefit from our industry leading e-scooters, after launching in the City of Stirling earlier this year (February 2022). Elsewhere in Australia, our e-scooter programmes are helping to reduce car use and congestion, improve air quality, as well as boost the local economy. The programme is set to create approximately 20 jobs in Busselton recruited locally, and increase economic activity with our national report, Shared Rides, Shared Wealth, finding two in three e-scooter journeys result in a purchase with a local business.

Safety remains at the heart of everything we do. Riders in Wollongong will benefit from visibly larger 12” wheels, wider footplates and an app-controlled Helmet Lock and Geofencing technology to control where e-scooters are ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel in certain areas. Other features include a topple detection, a 000 emergency button; voice guidance and a Follow My Ride feature.

Riders will be able to unlock and use the e-scooters through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

Neuron spreads festive cheer with Christmas giveaway and year-end rider safety campaign!

Our riders can expect to win great prizes while learning to ride safely and park responsibly this holiday season

With the year-end holidays soon upon us, we are spreading festive cheer across Australia, New Zealand and the UK while reminding our users to ride responsibly this Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Our festive safety campaign aims to build on the work of Road Safety Week, Helmet Safety Awareness Week, Freshers Week and many dedicated ScootSafe™ events in our cities this year.

Over the festive period, our vehicles are typically used by more people, some of whom may be less familiar with the local riding rules. Through a multi-channel campaign including social media, in-app messaging and our online riding school ScootSafe Academy, we will put the spotlight on the importance of wearing helmets and parking responsibly as well as reminders not to tandem ride or drink and ride. Who knows? ‘Safety Santa’ might make an appearance at one of our ScootSafe events!

Lots of fantastic prizes are also up for grabs as part of our 12 Days of Christmas #NeuronXmasGiveaway happening on our Instagram pages! Neuron riders can stand to win free monthly passes, weekly passes and exclusive ride rewards for themselves and their friends. All they’ll have to do is follow us on our local Instagram pages and take part in our daily challenges from 13 to 24 Dec to qualify.

We thank our riders for an incredible 2022 and for making Neuron a part of their year-end celebrations, but remember to #ScootSafe and enjoy the ho-ho-holidays! Spot these safety videos on our social media pages and find out how you can #ScootSafe with Neuron.

Neuron expands Canberra e-scooter riding area in time for Christmas!

Riders can now scoot from the city’s north and south with Tuggeranong and Weston Creek joining the riding area

We are thrilled to be expanding our service area in Canberra in time for Christmas. From today (Friday, 9 December), 132 square kilometres will be open to Neuron riders with Tuggeranong and Weston Creek joining the riding area and connecting people to the existing zones across Central Canberra, Belconnen, Gungahlin and Woden. With shared e-scooters now available across the entirety of our city, Canberrans can travel north to south and east to west using a range of shared paths and connecting links.

We are excited to extend the range of travel for riders in the city, while increasing the community’s access to safe, alternative and sustainable first and last mile transport options The expansion is set to be welcomed by local business within the new riding area after our recent national report, titled Shared Rides, Shared Wealth, revealed that two in three e-scooter journeys result in a purchase with a local business across Australia, with riders spending an average of $65 at local businesses per trip.

Riders are encouraged to visit our industry-first, interactive online riding school ScootSafe Academy, developed in consultation with the Australian Road Safety Foundation which provides riders with city-specific e-scooter training materials and incentivised quizzes.

Neuron celebrates top moments in 2022!

Neuron celebrates top moments in 2022!

2022 has been a tremendous year for us as we make further inroads to change how people travel for the better

This year, our riders took 8 million trips and clocked over 15 million KMs. That’s almost 375 times around the Earth! According to our recent research, 45% of these journeys have directly replaced a car trip, resulting in 1,100 tonnes of CO2 emissions avoided in 2022 alone. We’ve also expanded in 15 cities, including the addition of 8 new cities, cementing our position as the only micromobility operator in every Australian state and Canada’s fastest-growing operator.

With our year-end festive safety campaigns still to come, we take a ride down memory lane to revisit some of our 2022 highlights:

November

As most of our Canadian cities wind down for winter, our markets in the southern hemisphere go into their busiest summer season! It was a busy month of expansions as we introduced e-scooters to Yeppoon in Australia and increased our riding areas for Brisbane and Lethbridge (Canada)!

October

Did you know that globally, more than two in three Neuron trips result in a purchase at a local business? In Australia, that equates to enabling an estimated A$448m in annual spending, providing a boost to local economies. Key findings like these were released with ‘Shared Rides, Shared Wealth’, our 2022 Prosperity Report which demonstrated the economic benefits of Neuron e-scooters.

In our relentless commitment to safety, we also celebrated our second Helmet Safety Awareness Week with a social media contest for our riders, and hit our 20 million KM milestone in Australia!

September

We celebrated back-to-school season in the UK with experiential student ScootSafe™ events which were held in conjunction with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB). New riders and youth not only got to try out Neuron e-scooters but also vision  loss simulation glasses, which allowed riders to put themselves in the shoes of visually-impaired road users, encouraging them to park and ride responsibly.

At the same time, Australia also saw riding area and fleet expansions in Ballarat and Canberra, allowing locals and tourists to see more and do more.

August

Meaningful partnerships are a part of what we do to create a positive impact on our cities. In August, we partnered with Launch Housing, Melbourne’s largest specialist homelessness organisation, as part of National Homelessness Week in Australia. Case workers were offered free e-scooter use, helping them move between offices and supporting their outreach to the homeless community.

Happy third anniversary Brisbane! Neuron became the city’s longest-serving micromobility operator, and we are grateful for the continued trust and support of Brisbane City Council and our wonderful riders. In Canada, our riders rode up a storm surpassing two million KMs travelled.

July

ScootSafe™ Academy went live! Our online rider education platform is a one-stop shop for city-specific riding rules, interactive quizzes and games, and rider incentives. In an industry-first, it can also deliver targeted training to those who have broken the rules with modules specific to their riding or parking offences. In Australia, we partnered Recovery Your Way to provide equal employment opportunities to people from a diverse range of backgrounds.

We also launched our safety-first e-scooters in Airdrie, Neuron’s sixth Canadian city and fourth in Alberta.

June

June was a month of expansions! Our e-scooters and e-bikes landed in new areas in Sydney, Rockhampton and Calgary! For greater convenience, we also integrated with Google Maps in Canada, allowing riders to better plan their trips.

E-scooters are an important part of the transport mix and can help relieve the pressure from public transport networks during large-scale events. In Australia, we teamed up with organisers of the North Australian Festival of Arts (a month-long signature arts festival held annually in Townsville) once again to promote safety, reduce congestion and improve traffic flow.

May

Safety takes the centre stage in May with Road Safety Week! This year’s theme was “Safer Streets for All” and together with our national safety partners, Blind Citizens Australia, RNIB, and Thomas Pocklington Trust, we developed a series of light-hearted safety videos and rider education guidelines to highlight how riders can do their part to be considerate of all road users, including the visually-impaired, those with guide dogs, wheelchair users and the elderly.

We also released our inaugural Impact Report ‘Meeting Micromobility’s Potential’ to detail the positive impact we make on the local community, and announce ambitious targets to become Carbon Negative by 2025

April

Our series B funding round was announced and we raised a total of US$43.5 million. These funds have since gone on to fuel our expansion efforts, and research and development of our proprietary e-scooters.

In the same month, e-bikes landed in Sydney and in the Canadian cities of Lethbridge and Vernon, giving locals a new way to get around!

March

We rolled out Neuron Access, our global equity and accessibility programme. This includes introducing heavily discounted Concession Passes for low-income users in hopes to reduce the barriers to mobility options.

February

Hello, Melbourne, Perth and Rockhampton! It was a short but exciting month as we launched e-scooters in two Australian cities, and e-bikes in Christchurch. We also officially integrated with Google Maps to promote multi-modal commute.

January

We presented our first, formally-endorsed Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in Australia. This marked the beginning of Neuron’s reconciliation journey, and we remain committed to taking tangible steps towards the reconciliation of the nation.

We also launched our distinctive orange e-bikes in Frankston, our second city in Victoria, Australia!

Neuron expands Brisbane’s riding area adding two new trial areas!

Neuron expands Brisbane’s riding area adding two new trial areas!

The expansion will make it easier than ever before for Brisbanites to choose micromobility for their journey and connect to other modes of transport.

Brisbane’s shared micromobility programme with Neuron e-scooters and e-bikes will be rolled out in two new trial areas across across Greenslopes and Holland Park West, and Bulimba and Hawthorne. The expansion is set to support Brisbane City Council and the Queensland Government’s ‘first and last mile’ trial, making it easier than ever before for Brisbanites to choose micromobility for their journey and connect to other modes of transport such as busway stations or ferry terminals.

Since launching on the streets of Brisbane in August 2019, Neuron riders have travelled more than eight million kilometres in the city. The expansion is set to be welcomed by businesses within the new riding area, with a recent rider survey finding that 66% of Neuron rides result in a purchase at a local business, boosting the local economy. The service expansion will also create 15 new locally sourced jobs.

Neuron e-scooters are fitted with a range of cutting-edge safety features. These include an app-controlled helmet lock that secures a safety helmet to the e-scooter between trips; and a topple detection feature that can detect if an e-scooter has been left on its side which then alerts an operations team to reposition it safely. Other innovations include a 000 emergency button which can tell if someone has had a fall and helps the rider call the emergency services, Voice guidance to educate and warn riders of how to ride safely, and a ‘Follow My Ride’ function that allows riders to share their trip with friends and family in real time, for added safety and peace of mind.

Our e-scooters and e-bikes have cemented themselves as an important and popular part of the transport mix and we look forward to being able to reach more people in the suburbs.
