Neuron to launch e-scooters on the Sunshine Coast with a range of cutting-edge safety features!

After a strong track record of partnering with cities and leadership in the safety and innovation space, Neuron has been selected to provide e-scooters and e-bikes on the Sunshine Coast.

We’re thrilled to announce Neuron has been selected to provide e-scooters and e-bikes in Maroochydore and Mooloolaba as part of a 18-month trial with Sunshine Coast Council. From June, up to 400 of our purpose-built e-scooters and 75 e-bikes will be available to ride around the picturesque coastal towns.

The Sunshine Coast will be the sixth city in Queensland to benefit from our e-scooters, with Neuron already running successful operations in Brisbane, Townsville, Bundaberg and Rockhampton and Yeppoon.

Elsewhere in cities across Australia our e-scooters and e-bikes are helping to reduce car use and congestion, improve air quality, as well as boost the local economy. According to our recent report, titled Shared Rides, Shared Wealth, two thirds of Neuron e-scooter journeys result in a purchase with a local business across Australia and 46% of trips reduce a car journey. Providing both e-scooters and e-bikes will give residents a multi-modal choice based on their preference, and will also provide residents and tourists with greater access to sustainable transport options, reducing the reliance on cars for short journeys.

Riders will also benefit from a range of cutting-edge safety features including: world’s first integrated helmets; voice guidance; topple detection; a 000 emergency button which detects if a rider has had a fall and then helps them call the emergency services via their smartphone, and a ‘Follow my Ride’ feature for added peace of mind. Advanced geofencing technology will also control where e-scooters and e-bikes are ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel in certain areas.

We look forward to partnering with the Sunshine Coast Council to deliver a safe, convenient and environmentally-friendly service!
