E-bikes to join Neuron’s e-scooter fleet in Brisbane under new permit!

Brisbane will be the first Queensland city and third city in Australia to host Neuron’s e-bikes as well as its e-scooters

We have been awarded a new permit from Brisbane City Council to operate 1,000 e-scooters, increasing our fleet size by 10%. The new permit will also include 400 safety-first e-bikes which will be available from late July. Since launching in August 2019, our e-scooters have covered over four million kilometres, eliminating an estimated 295 tonnes of CO2 emissions.

In partnership with the council, we have introduced a range of pioneering safety innovations including the world’s first app-controlled Helmet Lock to increase helmet availability, while reducing ‘helmet litter’. We’ve also pioneered a full suite of geofencing in the city, controlling where e-scooters are ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel in certain areas.

Our e-scooters and e-bikes will provide Brisbane residents with a multi-modal transport choice based on their preference and length of trip. Serving as an additional sustainable transport option, the pedal-assisted e-bikes are great for longer journeys as riders are able to travel faster on bike paths, footpaths, and low speed roads.

Similar to our e-scooters, many other cutting-edge safety features will also be carried over to our e-bikes including: a 000 emergency button, voice guidance, topple detection and a “Follow my Ride” function. Users will be able to conveniently choose between both transport modes for the same price depending on their preference and types of journey through our user-friendly app.
