Neuron e-scooters are now available in more areas across Brisbane

We’re adding more locations to Brisbane’s riding area, extending the range of travel for our riders

From today, our riding area in Brisbane is being expanded, with Neuron’s distinctive orange e-scooters now incorporating the bayside suburbs of Wynnum, Manly, Sandgate and Shorncliffe. With summer coming, these trials will give residents and visitors more options to move around the city and experience the best of Brisbane.

The new areas will provide access to the Manly’s scenic beachfront path, Waterloo Bay Hotel, Wynnum Wading pool and multiple cafes. Riders will also be able to access the popular Shorncliffe scenic path and the Shorncliffe Jetty.

Since arriving on the streets of Brisbane in 2019, our e-scooters have been embraced by locals and tourists alike, racking up over 5.5 million kms.  The expanded riding area will support tourism and connections to public transport and is set to be welcomed by businesses located within the new zones.

We thank the Brisbane City Council and the community for their ongoing support, and look forward to playing a bigger part in their daily commute!

Neuron Set to Launch Safety-First Pedal-Assisted E-bikes in Frankston

As Victoria gears up for new e-scooter trials, Neuron announces a fleet of 150 safety-first pedal-assisted e-bikes will hit the streets of Frankston this summer.

Our EB-1 e-bike will be available to hire across the 23 square kilometre City of Frankston district, as part of a 12 month trial. While Frankston City Council is not a part of Victoria’s recently-announced e-scooter trials, the city recognises the many benefits of micromobility and welcomes e-bikes to the region.

Frankston will be the first location in Victoria to host Neuron’s e-bikes, joining the successes of Darwin, Adelaide and Brisbane, where they operate alongside our e-scooters. Their introduction will support the city’s sustainability goals, providing riders with greater access to environmentally-friendly transport options, also boosting the local economy, creating around 15 jobs locally and the option to expand based on demand.

Neuron e-bikes are GPS-connected and geofenced to control riding areas, parking spaces and top speed (up to 25kms in most areas). Riders will benefit from the same cutting-edge safety features brought over from our e-scooter technology, including the world’s first app-controlled helmet-lock that secures to the e-bike in between trips; topple detection; 000 emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; and ‘Follow my Ride’ function.

New riders can download our user-friendly app, from the App Store or Google Play and set it up in a matter of minutes. Standard Single trips will cost AU$1 to unlock the e-bike and 45 cents per minute thereafter. More frequent users have the option to purchase Neuron Passes, which are available in three-day (AU$25), weekly (AU$33), or monthly (AU$45) options. The packages will allow users to ride as many times as they want for up to 90 minutes per day for a fixed affordable price. This will result in no additional unlocking fees and savings of up to 96%.

Neuron introduces the world’s most sophisticated e-scooter with global technology trial!

Our distinctive orange e-scooters will be fitted with a new ‘e-scooter brain’ to drive e-scooter safety

We are thrilled to announce the launch of a major global technology trial which will take place over six months and is the first of its kind. Starting today we’ll have the first of 1,500 e-scooters in cities across Australia, Canada and the UK.

Neuron’s safety-first e-scooters will be fitted with a revolutionary new ‘e-scooter brain’ which combines three very important new technologies:

  • High Accuracy Location Technology (HALT) – This allows us to detect an e-scooter’s location to within 10 centimetres, making it at least 50 times more accurate than the average GPS-based location system which plots to around 5-10 metres.
  • Rapid Geofence Detection – This triggers an e-scooter’s response to a geofence in 0.3 seconds (as opposed to the usual 6-12 seconds). Making our e-scooters much more controllable in cities and potentially safer.
  • Dangerous Riding Detection – We are introducing a range of smart sensors to counteract unsafe riding habits in real-time. We’ll also be able to profile riders, giving them an individual safety rating, so we can educate, correct and incentivise good riding behaviour.

The trial’s findings from Ottawa in Canada, Brisbane and Darwin in Australia, and Slough in the UK will determine how selected features will be rolled out across Neuron’s fleet internationally over the next 12 months.

We look forward to further enhancing rider safety and putting Councils back in control of their e-scooter programmes!

Neuron Mobility and Moovit Announce Australian Partnership, Available in Brisbane

Neuron Mobility and Moovit Announce Australian Partnership, Available in Brisbane

Today we announce our partnership with Moovit - launching the integration of our e-scooters and e-bikes on their urban mobility app, in Brisbane.

From today, Moovit will show its users in real-time where Neuron vehicles are located nearby, offering commuters a safe micromobility service, alongside other public transport options. Through partnership and the integration of Neuron vehicles on the Moovit platform, we are better connecting Brisbanites with more alternative and convenient first and last mile options.

Neuron launched in Brisbane in August 2019 and our recent rider survey found an impressive 44% of all trips have replaced a car journey, eliminating an estimated 155 tonnes of Co2. Over the last few years Brisbanites have embraced micromobility and most now regard it as an essential transport option, however, many people still drive their private vehicles to connect with main transport hubs or drive directly to their destination.

That’s why Neuron and Moovit are partnering up to make micromobility services more accessible in Brisbane and ultimately take more cars off the road. We’re delighted to form this partnership and together work towards the common goal of better connecting the community with more safe, sustainable and convenient transport options.

Neuron launches inaugural global Helmet Safety Awareness Week!

Neuron launches inaugural global Helmet Safety Awareness Week!

We're giving our riders even more reasons to put on a helmet and protect themselves with prizes and more incentives

Helmet Safety Awareness Week 2021 (1-10 October) is Neuron’s first annual global safety campaign dedicated towards promoting the importance of wearing a helmet. Across all our markets, we’ve teamed up with our national safety partners, Councils and the Police to promote helmet use and safe riding.

During the campaign, you’ll see #ScootSafe events organised across our cities, riders can earn more incentives when they take an in-app ‘Helmet Selfie’ and we’ll also be running a ‘Wear a Helmet Challenge competition on Instagram. Participants with the best photo submission of themselves wearing Neuron’s helmet stand to win free passes.

We’ve also commissioned our own national Helmet Safety Polls during September 2021, with over 7,000 respondents in Australia, New Zealand, the UK and Canada. Nine out of 10 (99% in Australia, 98% in New Zealand, 83% in the UK and 91% in Canada) say it is “important” for e-scooter riders to wear helmets. This is consistent in Korea where 99% of respondents felt that enforcement of helmet use is “necessary” during our earlier poll in May 2021.

Safety is Neuron’s number one priority and with international research showing that 28% of e-scooter injuries occur to the head or neck, we recognise that greater education and incentives to increase helmet use should be the responsibility of every operator.

Helmet Safety Awareness Week is #ScootSafe like you’ve never seen before – so put on your helmets and fasten your straps, cause we’re about to take you for a ride!
