Neuron to launch safety-first pedal-assisted e-bikes in Frankston!

A fleet of 150 Neuron e-bikes launch on the streets of Frankston tomorrow, with the same cutting edge safety features brought over from our e-scooter technology

From tomorrow (21 January), our pedal-assisted e-bikes arrive on the streets of Frankston, available to hire across a 23 square kilometre district. The 12 month trial run by Frankston City Council marks the beginning of Victoria’s first Neuron-hosting e-bike rental scheme and follows the recent arrival of our e-scooters on the streets of Ballarat, Hobart and Launceston in mid-December.

Neuron’s distinctive orange e-bikes are already a success in Darwin, Adelaide and Brisbane, where they operate alongside Neuron e-scooters. The addition of micromobility in the community is set to make a positive impact, with the pilot scheme offering a safe, sustainable and socially-distanced way to travel, while boosting the local economy.

Neuron e-bikes are GPS-connected and geofenced to control riding areas, parking spaces and top speed (up to 25kms in most areas). Riders will benefit from the same cutting-edge safety features brought over from our e-scooter technology, including the world’s first app-controlled helmet-lock that secures to the e-bike in between trips; topple detection; 000 emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; and ‘Follow my Ride’ function.

Riders will be able to book and use the e-bikes through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in a matter of minutes. Standard Single trips will cost AU$1 to unlock the e-bike and 45 cents per minute thereafter. More frequent users have the option to purchase Neuron Passes, which allows users to ride for as little as $1.50 a day. They are available in three-day (AU$25), weekly (AU$33), or monthly (AU$45) options. The packages will allow up to 90 minutes per day for a fixed affordable price, with no additional unlocking fees and savings of up to 96%.

Neuron to expand Bundaberg and Bargara e-scooter riding area!

Neuron to expand Bundaberg and Bargara e-scooter riding area!

From tomorrow, riders in Bundaberg can travel further for longer with expanded riding areas.

Our e-scooter riding area is expanding to include more places across Bundaberg. The expansion will be supported by an additional 75 e-scooters and give access to the growing commercial precinct around Johanna Boulevard and Enterprise Street, as well as 3km further along the Bargara coastline to Burnett Heads.

The new riding areas will provide access to more local businesses and popular destinations including Kalki Moon Distillery and the Shalom Markets. Tourists will also gain a car free option when travelling from accommodation in Bargara to the Bundaberg Port Marina, to visit the Southern Great Barrier Reef. During Turtle Breeding season Neuron will work closely with Mon Repos Turtle Centre to ensure the turtle’s environment remains as is. This will mean the gates on either side of the centre will close from 6 pm – 6 am each night until the end of March.

Since first hitting the streets in April 2021 Neuron’s e-scooters have travelled close to 500,000 kilometres, eliminating an estimated 37 tonnes of CO2 by providing an alternative to short car trips. Since doubling the e-scooter riding area in September2021 trips have increased by 80% with many suburban residents using e-scooters as part of their daily commute.  The average e-scooter journey is 2.6km, trips along the Bargara Esplanade proving to be the most popular route, and Bundaberg Central being another hot spot for riders to start and end their rides.

We thank Bundaberg Regional Council and the community for their continued trust and support, and look forward to playing a bigger part in their daily commute!

Neuron is coming soon to Stirling as part of Perth’s first e-scooter trial!

Our safety-first e-scooters will soon be available to hire in Stirling, a significant inner metropolitan area of Perth, under a 12-month trial.

Neuron’s distinctive orange e-scooters will soon be arriving in Western Australia! We have been selected to operate the first ever rental e-scooter programme in The City of Stirling, located in metropolitan Perth. It will be part of a 12-month trial which is due to start in early 2022.

This marks our first location in Western Australia since amended regulations supporting e-scooters came into effect on 4 December. We were selected for our strong track record of partnering with councils, and for our leadership in safety and innovation. Neuron will invest significantly into the city, creating approximately 30 jobs which will be recruited locally.

Riders will benefit from a range of pioneering safety innovations including: the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock which secures a helmet to every e-scooter in between trips; topple detection; a 000 emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; and a ‘Follow my Ride’ function. Geofencing technology will also be used to control where e-scooters can be ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel.

Riders will also benefit from Australia’s first – and only – third party rider liability insurance for e-scooters, in a move to protect and reassure riders as well as the wider community. We look forward to partnering with the City of Stirling to deliver a safe, convenient and environmentally-friendly service!

In Launceston, 200 e-scooters will cover Launceston City, Newstead, Elphin, Invermay, Mowbary and Newham.
