Neuron launches e-scooters and e-bikes in Coquitlam!

We have been selected to provide our safety-first vehicles in the City of Coquitlam as part of its pilot shared micromobility program

We have been selected by the City of Coquitlam to launch the city’s first e-scooter program. From June 29, the first of our 300 safety-first e-scooters and 100 e-bikes will be gradually rolled out to cover key areas of the neighbourhood including Coquitlam Town Centre, Eagle Ridge and Coquitlam Centre Mall.

Neuron partners with the Traffic Injury Research Foundation (TIRF) to promote e-scooter safety and research in Canada. Users can visit our online riding school, ScootSafe Academy, for their local riding rules and earn free credits for future rides. Our Safety Ambassadors will also be out in greater numbers at key areas of the city to equip new riders with the confidence to safely ride and park our vehicles.

Neuron’s selection in the city follows a strong track record of partnering with cities, and our leadership and commitment to safety and innovation. Coquitlam is Neuron’s 17th Canadian city and second in British Columbia following the company’s launch in Vernon in July 2021. Neuron will invest significantly into the city, creating approximately 25 permanent and temporary jobs which will be recruited locally.

Riders will also benefit from a range of cutting-edge safety features including: world’s first integrated helmets (it is legal requirement to wear a helmet); voice guidance; topple detection; a 911 emergency button which detects if a rider has had a fall and then helps them call the emergency services via their smartphone, and a ‘Follow my Ride’ function for added peace of mind. Advanced geofencing technology will also control where e-scooters are ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel in certain areas.

To ride a Neuron, simply unlock and use the e-scooters through our user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in a matter of minutes.
