Neuron and the Australian Road Safety Foundation teams up for #ScootSafe campaign this festive season!

The nationwide campaign aims to remind our valued users to ride safely and follow the rules over the holiday break.

We’re excited to partner with the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) to launch a #ScootSafe initiative and promote safe riding over the Christmas and New Year holidays. While we have a very low rate of e-scooter incidents across Australia, we’ll like to take this festive season as an opportunity to reinforce the rules and our safety guidelines.

Neuron’s e-scooters are packed with safety features, however like all forms of mobility, complacency over the Christmas and New Year holidays could lead to accidents at a time when families should be enjoying themselves the most, rather than visiting hospitals.

We urge users to be responsible when riding our e-scooters. Please wear a helmet – it’s the law. Each Neuron e-scooter is fitted with an integrated helmet, so use them to protect yourself, even on the shortest trip. Don’t ride in tandem especially with children, and don’t drink and ride!

Here’s a summary of our #ScootSafe campaign’s Top Safety Tips when riding a Neuron e-scooter this holiday season:

  • Neuron riders must be 18 years old and above
  • Do not ride under the influence of alcohol or any other substance
  • E-scooters can only be ridden on the pavement, not on roads or on on-road bicycle lanes
  • Only one rider allowed per e-scooter, and no tandem riding with children
  • Wearing a helmet is mandatory, there is one on every Neuron e-scooter
  • Maintain a safe distance between riders and pedestrians
  • Be aware of the riding environment and remove distractions (including earphones)
  • Give way to pedestrians and mobility devices (such as wheelchairs) at all times
  • Park responsibly, don’t obstruct access areas, don’t park too close to a junction

Riders who don’t follow safety rules risk serious injury, Police prosecution, and could have their accounts suspended. Find out more about your local Riding Rules here.

We can all play our part in ensuring e-scooters are safe for all, reducing the risks to both riders and pedestrians. Happy and safe riding!

Neuron’s e-bikes have landed in Adelaide!

Neuron’s e-bikes have landed in Adelaide!

Adelaide is the first city in South Australia to host Neuron’s e-bikes as well as their e-scooters

Neuron’s e-bikes have launched on the streets of Adelaide, with a fleet of 150 available to hire across the CBD, North Adelaide, Norwood, St Peters and Payneham starting 18 December 2020. The launch of e-bikes complement Neuron’s existing e-scooter programme and both options provide a safe, convenient and socially-distanced way to travel.

They will provide residents with a multi-modal transport choice based on their preference and length of trip. The e-bikes may be preferred over e-scooters for longer journeys as riders are able to travel on bike paths, footpaths, and low speed roads.

Similar to our e-scooters, many pioneering safety features will be carried over to our e-bikes including: an app-controlled helmet lock, a 000 emergency button, voice guidance, topple detection and a “Follow my Ride” function. Geofencing technology will also control where they can be ridden, parked and how fast they can travel in certain areas.

Users will be able to conveniently choose between both transport modes for the same price depending on their preference and types of journey through our user-friendly app.

Neuron partners with the Australian Road Safety Foundation to further improve e-scooter safety!

We are partnering with the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF) to promote best practice for rental e-scooter safety across the country.

Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Neuron and the ARSF partnership will help us further lead the way in best practice for rental e-scooter safety. The non-profit road safety organisation has been at the heart of accident prevention in Australia since 2010.

As part of the partnership, ARSF will provide us with advice on our safety training materials for e-scooter riders, conduct safety training sessions for Neuron’s staff, and also review and evaluate our e-scooter incident data in Australia so we can continue making our service as safe as possible.

We’re widely regarded as the e-scooter industry’s safety leaders having already introduced a number of innovations to help keep riders safe. These include the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock which secures a helmet to every e-scooter in between trips; topple detection; a 000 emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; a “Follow my Ride” function; and, of course, we pioneered the use of geofencing technology to control where e-scooters can be ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel.

ARSF is the perfect partner for Neuron as we work towards a common goal of educating e-scooter riders to keep them safe and reduce accidents as much as possible.

Neuron’s new e-bikes will soon be on Darwin’s streets!

The e-bikes will complement Neuron’s existing e-scooter programme which has been extended for a further 12 months

Darwin will soon be home to Neuron’s first ever e-bike programme, with a fleet of 150 e-bikes available to hire across the city from early December. The launch will complement our existing e-scooter scheme which has been extended for a further 12 months with an expanded riding area and 150 additional e-scooters.

The e-bikes will provide Darwinites with another sustainable transport option, especially for longer journeys as riders can travel faster on bike paths, footpaths, and low-speed roads. The e-bike riding area will launch with over 30 convenient incentivised parking stations and an initial 15 square kilometers operating zone, which incorporates the CBD, The Gardens, Stuart Park, Parap, East Point and Fannie Bay.

Similar to our e-scooters, many pioneering safety features will be carried over to our e-bikes including: our app-controlled helmet lock, a 000 emergency button, voice guidance, topple detection and a “Follow my Ride” function. Geofencing technology will also control where they can be ridden, parked and how fast they can travel in certain areas.

Users will be able to conveniently choose between both transport modes for the same price depending on their preference and types of journey through our user-friendly app.
