Neuron e-scooters are coming to Airdrie!

Airdrie becomes Neuron’s sixth city in Canada and fourth in Alberta

Residents and visitors of Airdrie will now have a new, safe and sustainable way to explore the city. Neuron will begin rolling out a fleet of 100 e-scooters to Airdrie streets beginning July 1

Joining Ottawa, Calgary, Red Deer, Vernon, and Lethbridge, Airdrie is the sixth city in Canada to offer Neuron’s service. Neuron was selected for its strong track record of partnering with cities, and its leadership when it comes to safety and innovation.

Neuron’s e-scooters are designed with a suite of industry-leading safety features — they’re visibly bigger and more robust than other e-scooters. Each e-scooter is GPS-connected and managed by geofencing technology that controls where they can be ridden and parked, and at what speed they can travel in different areas. Neuron sets no-ride zones, no-parking zones and low-speed zones to further improve safety. Voice Guidance also educates riders and delivers instructions for safe riding and parking.

In each city where Neuron operates, the service has made a positive impact on the local economy and environment. Last year in Red Deer, 38% of Neuron trips replaced a car journey, and more than half (52%) of riders used the service to commute. In Calgary, 80% use e-scooters to visit restaurants, cafes and to explore the city, while nearly two-thirds (62%) made a purchase from a local business during their trip.

Riders will be able to book and use our devices through Neuron’s user-friendly app, which can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play and set up in minutes. Single trips will cost C$1.15 to unlock the e-scooter and 35c per minute thereafter. More frequent users will have the option to purchase Neuron Passes, a subscription service, available in three-day (C$25), weekly (C$33), or monthly (C$89) options.
