Following our UK launch in October, Neuron’s safety-first e-scooters are heading to Newcastle, the vibrant heart of the north-east of England, subject to final Government approval. We look forward to partnering with Newcastle City Council to deliver a  safe, socially-distanced and environmentally-friendly service.   

The trial will begin in early 2021, Newcastle residents will be able to benefit from our leading N3 e-scooter. They are fitted with a range of safety features including: the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock which secures a helmet to every e-scooter in between trips; topple detection; a 999 emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; a “Follow my Ride” function; and, the use of geofencing technology to control where e-scooters can be ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel.

Each e-scooter will be fitted with a unique license plate for easy identification and to promote responsible use and we’ll also be launching  a range of ‘smart parking’ initiatives to control and promote safe parking, many of which are a first for the UK.

Newcastle was recently highlighted as the British city most prepared to benefit from the e-scooter revolution, thanks to its excellent road and cycle infrastructure. The trial will see an initial roll-out of 250 e-scooters in the first month of operation with the number significantly increasing over the course of the 12-month trial.
