We are thrilled to be celebrating our first-year anniversary of operating in three locations across England! We are also very grateful to our Council partners for the opportunity to continue serving the people of Newcastle, Slough and Sunderland, as our e-scooter trials have been extended until November 2022. 

Since launching 12 months ago, Neuron’s e-scooters have been embraced in the UK, with our data showing that a million miles have been travelled. According to our recent survey, we’ve achieved some amazing milestones including:

• • 88% of riders believe that our e-scooters have created a positive impact in their city 
  • 35% of trips have directly replaced car journeys, eliminating an estimated 85 tonnes of CO2 emissions
  • 55% of trips resulted in a purchase at a local business, providing a boost to local economies as cities gradually came out of lockdown

Promoting safety and rider education has been a key priority for Neuron. In addition to ScootSafe events, where our Safety Ambassadors engage one-to-one with our riders and general public to educate them on the local riding rules, we’ve also launched our first annual Helmet Safety Awareness Week in October 2021, with £100,000 invested in incentivising helmet use and safe riding during the campaign. Local celebrities, such as two Newcastle Falcons players and a Sunderland AFC player, have endorsed the e-scooters and worked with Neuron to promote the safe riding rules. 

We have learned a great deal during our first year operating in the UK and are really encouraged with the level of uptake and support for our e-scooters from the community. We look forward to seeing the benefits of e-scooters continue to positively impact residents and businesses across the city!
