Neuron partners with Brake to lead the way on e-scooter safety in New Zealand!

We are partnering with Brake New Zealand to promote best practice for rental e-scooter safety across the country.

Safety has always been our top priority and partnering with Brake New Zealand will help us further lead the way in rental e-scooter safety. The charity works with communities and organisations across the country to stop road deaths and injuries, and to support people bereaved and injured in crashes.

Together we will collaborate on and co-develop campaigns and activities that will promote rider safety in New Zealand. Brake will provide us with advice on our safety training materials for e-scooter riders, and also review and evaluate our e-scooter incident data in New Zealand so we can continue making our service as safe as possible.

As a safety-leading e-scooter operator, we’ve introduced an impressive number of innovations to help keep riders safe. These include the world’s first app-controlled helmet lock which secures a helmet to every e-scooter in between trips; topple detection; a 111 emergency button; voice guidance to educate and warn riders on how to ride safely; a ‘Follow my Ride’ function; and we pioneered the use of geofencing technology to control where e-scooters can be ridden and parked, and how fast they can travel.

We look forward to working with Brake to continue educating e-scooter riders and the wider public, to keep them safe and reduce incidents as much as possible.
